The Chinese Airline Experience in 2025: China Southern (CZ) Review – Economy

Ever wondered what it’s like to fly with a Chinese airline in 2025? – I’ll give you a hint: it’s very comfortable and worth exploring as an affordable option, especially if you want to fly around the Greater China region!

From learning how to drink yogurt with a straw to navigating the requirements for a cross-strait trip (including quarantine checks on both sides 😱), this journey was full of surprises. Today, I’ll take you along for my journey as I review my China Southern Airlines flight from Zhengzhou to Taipei. This post features a vlog of the trip (my second on the blog!). This was SUCH a unique experience, and I highly recommend taking 7 minutes out of your day to learn about the often under-covered world of traveling on Chinese airlines.

I’ve also included some photos below to give you a taste of what you can expect, but trust me, you need to see the video to truly appreciate this experience. (Plus, if you want to see what the food in economy class is like, you’ll have to watch the video!)

In the next post, we will return to traveling in mainland China, as in about two weeks, I’ll be writing about something very ‘Great’ indeed 😙. In the meantime, please wish me luck and relaxation as I take some time off to be with my sister while she visits me here in Taiwan!
